Google announced its newest tablet, the
Nexus 7. The version of software that is in this new tablet, dubbed
Jellybean, comes with multiuser support. A group of people can now have
individual accounts on one tablet. This tablet also has 1,920 × 1,200
pixel resolution, making it the worlds highest resolution tablet.
This is such a surprising innovation because of the fact that this
tablet only has a 7 inch screen. The Nexus 7 will sell for only $229,
$20 more than Amazon’s Kindle Fire and about $270 less than Apple’s
iPad. A version with more storage will sell for $269 and the tablet that
has 4G network connection will sell for $350 and be available in
AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon companies. The new tablet will go on
sale July 30th online and in stores across the United States.
Not getting as much media attention as the
Nexus 7, this new chip lets user plug it into their smartphone or
tablets, allowing them to watch television anywhere at anytime. It can
also act like a remote and people can control their television with
their phone or tablet. It will also play movies, television shows, carry
Youtube, and Netflix. This idea was set in motion to rival Apple’s
similar product.
The company DARPA is
working on a new project. Although in it’s early stages, the initial
plan is to create an underwater aircraft carrier. This machine would be
stocked with drones that have various abilities (most likely spying and
attacking capabilities). It could travel almost anywhere in the ocean
because the ship would be unmanned. More information will be announced
on the project at the “Prospers Day” event being held next month.
Time Cook, Apple CEO, says that the company
would love to incorporate the Apple brand in your car. A recent patient
filing suggests the company is looking at building the dashboard of the
future. One that is smart and can interact with the person driving the
vehicle. For example, a possible feature would be a person using a hand
gesture could change the temperature without taking their eyes off the
road. When can we expect the “SmartDash”? Probably within the next 6-10
years would be a logical guess.
