Technology Helps Fighting Wildfires and Saving Lives in Plane Crash

Luca Parmitano, 36, becomes first ever Italian to ever take a space walk. Him and six American astronauts help prepare for the additional new Russian module while preparing for installations on the International Space Station's backbone truss.

-Forest Service using new technology to help combat wildfires.
Using  GPS technology and weather satellite, the Forest Service can send images of the fires to personal on the ground through their tablet or smartphone. However, this is still  in the testing phase but the trials have gone well.

Also, unmanned aircraft is able to fly over the fire at night and uses infrared scanning techolongy to get a picture of the fire so the personal have an idea of the current track of the fire.  Two methods that considerably help fire fighting.

-Analyst: Google to make profit off self driving cars by end of decade.
 The idea of self driving cars by 2020 is a stretch to say the least. Maybe in the next 20 years you could see self- driving cars on the road regularly. You never know what a company like Google has brewing. If phones can transition over the last ten years as quick has they have, cars can do the same.  It'll be interesting to watch as time goes on.

-Lives saved in San Francisco plane crash due to new technological improvements.
Only 2 people died in this horrific crash. Could you say that 15 years ago? Technology for aircraft has greatly improved thus saving many lives. Three key technological improvements include: 16G airplane seats that can withstand major gravitational force, flame retardant materials that reduced fire damage throughout that damaged aircraft, fire hoses with cameras that can see inside the aircraft. This saves lives of the first responders who before might of entered the aircraft to put out the flames.

-A Sink-Urinal making strides in Europe.
The design, called Stand, is already in use in several European countries.


Not a life changing innovation, but a new style that designers say saves water. Europe has water shortages, so this idea seems economical.
