-Cheap satellite that one day could be put into orbit by anyone.

It is now getting to a point were any consumer could buy a tissue sized satellite and put it up into Earth's orbit. These satellites have the ability to snap pictures, take environmental readings, and even broadcast messages from orbit. Anyone with a few hundred dollars to spare could buy their very own satellite. This year more than a dozen of these small satellites are going into orbit. Within the next few years, the technology will become cheap enough to the point that anyone could send their very own satellite up into space at very little cost.
This type of satellite is known as a "CubeSat" which started out as a small educational project. It has now grown to were they are beginning to sell them to anybody. According to the founders, someday these CubeSat satellites will even have the ability to go even beyond our orbit.

-Artificial heart made from cow tissue.
The company Carmat is developing a artificial heart that is in part made from cow tissue. This device is soon to be tested in those who are having heart failure. It is regulated by sensors, software, and microelectronics. It's source of power comes from two lithium batteries, that are not put inside the body of the patient. They sit externally outside of the body. Countries such as Poland and Belgium are letting heart failure patients test out the device, while France is still testing it. Dr. Joesph Rogers, who is the medical director of its cardiac transplant and mechanical circulatory support program at Duke University says if this heart design becomes successful, it could be a 'game changer' in extending life for those with heart problems.
