-Under Water Cities - will they ever be possible?

Will we ever... live in underwater cities?

Will Under Water Cities ever be possible? The technology already exists to create underwater colonies supporting up to 100 people – the few bunker-like habitats in operation today providing a blueprint. “There are no technological hurdles,” Koblick said. “If you had the money and the need, you could do it today.” Beyond that number, technological advances would be needed to deal with emergency systems, and environmental issues of air supply and humidity. Possibility, down the road we could see this type of technology being used - it least for scientific purposes.

-When will gene therapy come to the United States?

Though many gene therapies have been tested in patients around the world in hopes of curing hereditary diseases, few governments have approved their sale, and none has been approved in the United States. In Europe, some countries are beginning to approve such treatments to be tested to see its effectiveness. The chart above shows which research companies and institutions are working on such technology. Widespread gene therapy could be coming within the next decade.

-Starship Conference in Houston, Texas this upcoming Weekend.

Icarus Construct

Engineers and scientists are going to Houston, Texas this week to discuss future space travel. They have descended on this meeting to discuss the possibility of this project to ever happen. The conference which runs through Sunday is hosted by the 100 year spaceship initiative that was funded by the United States Space Department. They seek a development of a vehicle or spacecraft within the next 100 years that could travel to a neighboring star in a reasonable amount of time.

-Capturing Solar Energy that could be used on Earth?
This is an idea of pulling energy out of space and using on Earth is an idea to solve the world's future energy needs. A former NASA scientist, has created a project called " SPS-ALPHA" (Solar Power Satellite via Arbitrarily Large Phased Array). This idea would need to have thousands of intelligent computers working together in high orbit to capture and transmit the sun rays into energy and microwave beam that energy to Earth. This project could be ready by about 2030 if funding is there and everything else falls in place.

-Tiny organs printed in 3-D aim for 'body in a chip' for better drug tests.

3D

Miniature human organs made from 3-D printing could "create a body on a chip" that enables for better drug testing in the future. This idea is being back by the United States Department of Defense. The 2 inch 'body on a chip' would represent a realistic testing ground for how the human body would react to bad sicknesses. This could speed of the drug testing process as instead of testing it on animals such as mice, scientists could test it out on human cells. They have the ability to print solid miniature organs such as livers, hearts, lungs, and blood vessels. In the end, this type of testing could help scientists quickly develop a drug or vaccine for fast moving pandemics or bio-terrorism attacks.
